Frequently Asked Questions
Should you have any further inquiries, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m more than happy to furnish you with additional detailed information regarding my process.

I have a BA English, with an emphasis on editing. This includes an editing certificate, and another for academic editing. I also have a TESOL qualification. To keep up to date and continue my professional development, I’m currently doing the Proofreading and Editing Course from the College of Media and Publishing. Next on my list is Club Ed, though I haven’t decided which course.
I started editing right out of university, first starting with academic text. From there, I worked for a publishing house for a couple of years before deciding to focus on fiction. Since I started editing fiction, I have worked in a variety of genres, including romance, paranormal, mysteries, suspense, thrillers, fantasy, speculative fiction, science fiction and apocalyptic works. I do enjoy the variety a lot, but quickly started specializing in fantasy.
See my testimonials. Should you wish to speak to a previous client, I can provide you with their contact information after obtaining their consent.
My main specializations are fantasy and romance (all genres and heat levels), but I enjoy a good science fiction, mystery, thriller, and post apocalyptic as well (includes these genres’ subgenres). I do not edit horror or comedy.
I have a very methodical style. I start every project off by running the MS through my editing software. I use PerfectIt, a software designed specifically for editors. After the software, I start the real work of going through each sentence, analyzing it, and making sure it adds to the overall story, rather than jerk readers from their immersion in your world. After completing this round, I run the MS through the software again, making sure no new errors were introduced. You will receive your MS with tracked changes and comments where they were necessary.
I pay meticulous attention to detail, ensuring consistency throughout your work, in addition to all other elements. I am not a developmental editor, so can not help you improve your big picture elements. Should you require a developmental editor, I can put you in touch with my partner at Heart Bound Editing.
I do two passes with editing software with the first round of editing, including the actual edit, which means I go through your work three times. Should you decide you want an additional round of editing at a reduced rate, I put your MS through the software again, and do another round of editing, with a final pass through the software.
I edit between 5K and 10K words a day when doing a line edit. It all depends on the complexity of the text. My average, though, is 7K words a day. With copy editing, my range is between 10K and 15K per day.
I work only in MS Word with track changes. If your document is in Google docs, I will download a copy, edit it, and upload it to Google docs again.
I prefer to keep the lines open for easy communication. If you are agreeable, I will keep in contact through FB Messenger, as I often have a few questions regarding major style decisions when starting the edit. Messenger also allows you to contact me at anytime. I always have my cell with me, but I’m not always available to answer an email right away. After the initial questions the first week, I will keep you updated periodically, but you are free to contact me at any time for a checkup.
I have editing samples I can provide on request. Each sample is shared with the owner’s permission. I also provide a 1500 word sample edit, so you can get an idea of how I will edit your work.
I provide a contract which outlines the scope of work, what I will be looking at, payment terms, turnaround time, and other topics.
Costs vary for each project because each manuscript is unique. Some require more work and time than others do, which the costs will reflect. Prices are on my services page. For a detailed quote, please fill out the contact form.
I require a 50% non-refundable deposit, which is payable when signing the contract. This ensures that I book out my time for your work. The remainder is due upon completion of the first edit, before release of the work. Should you require a payment plan, please get in touch for alternate arrangements.
Payments can be made through Wise or Paypal’s Xoom. I also accept major debit and credit cards.
